Once players become vampires, Skyrim's gameplay can change significantly. Regardless of race, character appearances will change slowly, as characters grow fangs, their skin becomes paler, and their eyes become red. There are four tiers of vampirism, which progress one in-game day without feeding, and drinking blood will reset players to the first stage.
Skyrim vampires have to track how long it has been since they've last fed, as the longer they go without blood the more severely the disease will affect them in positive and negative ways.
There are many benefits to becoming a vampire in Skyrim. As players go without feeding and progress to higher stages of vampirism, these powers will get stronger and will bring additional spells: Vampire's Seduction and Embrace of the Shadows. Skyrim vampires can also elect to activate the Necromage perk in the skill tree, which further strengthens these effects, significantly buffing gameplay.
However, there are also some drawbacks players should be aware of before diving into Skyrim's vampiric lifestyle. With these buffs come nerfs, such as an increased weakness to fire and weakness to sunlight. Consequently, taking the form of a Vampire Lord will make the citizens hostile. Stealth -type characters profit the most from the bonuses of vampirism, but the disadvantages are rather inconvenient for other character archetypes.
Once afflicted with Vampirism , you will slowly progress through the four stages, eventually becoming "blood-starved. In order to regress to earlier stages of vampirism, you will need to feed.
You can feed only on sleeping humans, which you can find in most towns. Sneak into their homes, creep up behind them while they sleep and, while crouching, the option to " Pickpocket " should appear. Choose to pickpocket and you will further be given the option to " Pickpocket " or "Feed. If you rid the disease early on before the onset of symptoms, then a simple Cure Disease will do the trick or going to temples in towns and using the altar.
At later stages, however, it is still possible to cure yourself by resorting to Lycanthropy or doing the quest Rising at Dawn. However, becoming a lycanthrope is permanent unless you progress through the companions and it has its own costs and benefits. Last Edited: 22 Nov pm. Note that if you have the Dawnguard expansion pack, the Vampire Lord functions differently from the standard Vampire discussed here. Visit the Vampire Lord page for more relevant information.
Now that the disease is active, just wait three full days without curing Sanguinare Vampiris to become a vampire. While this is certainly the easier way, those interested in this route should consider becoming a Vampire Lord instead. As part of the Dawnguard expansion in Skyrim , players can complete a series of missions to become a powerful vampire with its own perks. To start this, encounter a guard or innkeeper who speaks about vampire hunters.
Travel to Fort Dawnguard and begin the quest Awakening to continue this method. At the end of this mission, the Dragonborn will encounter a vampire called Serana who requests an escort back to her home.
Take Serana to Castle Volkihar which is to the west of Solitude. Once inside, her father Lord Harkon will make the player a Vampire Lord as a reward for bringing Serana home.
